Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the AV converter, and what does it do?

The iKasu Audio/Video USB adaptor can capture high quality video and audio failes directly by USB 2.0 interface. It has never been easier to convert your old VHS videos to DVD or even your camcorder recordings

  • How do I connect an AV device to my PC using the AV converter?

This is really simple. Your iKasu AV converter has a USB connection to communicate with your PC. On the other end, there are a series of coloured wires to connect with your AV device. You will find that your camcorder/VHS/HIFI will have an AV output (also coloured Red, White & Yellow). Connect the corresponding colours using the wires supplied, and then you can start using your AV Converter.

  • How do I install the Drivers and software for my PC?

Supplied inside the box, is a CD-ROM disk with all the necessary hardware support and software to ensure that your AV converter will start working immediately. All you need to do is install the Drivers & software from the CD-ROM provided. If you have any problems during installation please refer to the User Manual provided.

  • There is no Image showing on the converter window when I am playing the source video recorder.

There are two source settings to the AV converter, either AV where the red, white and yellow leads are used, or S-Video where the Black SV lead is used. Just make sure you are using the correct source, you can select them in the settings menu.

  • Can I adjust where the video clips are saved to?

Yes, just go to the setup menu (the hammer icon), select the 'Record' tab and adjust the 'Video Path'. You can do the same with snapshots by changing the 'Pic Path'.

  • An error message has popped up when i start the program, what has caused this?

Usually this is down to the drivers. Try un-installing the drivers from the computer, download the drivers from our website and then try installing those drivers. Remember to restart the computer after the drivers have installed. If in doubt, have a look at the demonstration video.

If you are receiving an error message try downloading the driver conflict fix from above.

  • How do I transfer the clips to a DVD?

The video converter doesn’t have this function; it is just for converting video from an video device into clips on your computer. To convert these onto a DVD you will need DVD burning software such as Nero.

  • The leads are plugged in colour coordinated, yet there is still no image. I have the capture set to AV. is there anything else wrong?

Try swapping some of the leads round, some leads will function slightly differently. If you suspect that your leads have perished from your video cameras, we can supply them for you at £5.50, provided they connect with an earphone style jack.
