About Fascin8 Millinery

About Fascin8

Fascin8 Millinery by Amanda Price is a celebration of traditional craftsmanship, texture, and thoughtful design.

Amanda’s journey into millinery began in 2008, when she was searching for the perfect headpiece for a special occasion. Unable to find something that felt quite right, she had one made—and remembers the overwhelming feeling of opening the box and seeing it for the first time. That moment stayed with her.

After being told, “you could have made that yourself,” Amanda’s curiosity was sparked. She attended a workshop, initially just to create another piece for an upcoming wedding, never imagining it would lead to something more. Soon after, she was asked to make a headpiece for someone else—and Fascin8 Millinery began to take shape.

Hats & Headpieces

Beautifully handcrafted hats and headpieces from her studio in Mid-Wales. Each piece is made entirely from scratch using traditional millinery techniques.

Workshops

In these Hands-on workshops, you’ll learn the techniques used to create beautiful hats and headpieces, from shaping sinamay and wool on traditional hat blocks to adding hand-finished trims and details.

Craft & Process

Every piece is handmade from scratch using traditional millinery techniques, materials and tools.

Amanda works with a range of beautiful fabrics including sinamay, silk, velvet, cotton, wool and tweed. Sinamay, a versatile natural fibre, is shaped and sculpted by hand—soaked in water and blocked over traditional wooden hat blocks made by UK craftsmen. Wool hats begin as hoods, which are carefully steamed, shaped and left to dry before being finished with hand-sewn details.

Flowers and decorative elements are individually crafted using stiffened fabrics and traditional brass tools, heated and shaped by hand. Feathers are also carefully curled and arranged to create delicate, intricate forms.

A Love of Texture

At the heart of Fascin8 Millinery is a deep appreciation for texture and material.

Amanda finds inspiration in sourcing fabrics from a wide variety of places—from specialist shops to vintage fairs, charity shops and hidden gems. The tactile quality of each material plays a central role in the design process, with every piece reflecting a balance of structure, softness and detail.
